The woman had had a long day. So much had been gained and lost over the years and she felt like life really could start anew here. Here she could no worry about burying the hatchet, and instead could focus on the here and now. And although there were many places within the castle’s confines she could easily have escaped to, she chose the outdoors, a place that her mother had loved fiercely. While walking through the castle, she had chosen on going to the Black Lake. She didn’t really have a reason for going there, it just sometimes happened that way. Everything always happened for a reason, from what her father used to say. The thirty something woman smirked as she carried herself with the highest of regard. Even with the way things were headed life seemed to be getting better.
"happiness can be found in the darkest of times if one only remembers to turn on the light." It was a quote that her mother used to say, it was one of the very last things that she had shared that had made any common sense! The witch had been minding her own business with her head in the clouds or so it would appear when suddenly she had run into none other than one of the other founders, Godric. She smiled at the man before her. It was definitely different seeing him outside the castle as she hadn't really had a chance to talk to him or the others one on one since their plan had all but come to fruition recently. And now with the school having opened it's doors for the first time she was more than ready to see if the others felt like she did. She had been nervous and excited about this, and she hoped that none of the students would show their lack of knowledge while they were in her class. Intelligence was a trait she had often valued ever since she was a child. Her head was so up in the clouds that she didn't pay attention to where she was walking and nearly had walked right into Godric. Luckily she caught herself just in time, as otherwise that would have been very embarassing. "Hello, Godric." She said with a polite Scottish smile. "How are you this fine evening?" She figured starting with small bits of conversation could possible turn out to be a very good way to stimulate the conversation and lead it in a positive direction.

Godric stood up from his meditation and started walking back towards the castle but was stopped by Rowena. He looked her up and down and saw the concerned face she had. 'She is probably just ready for school to start.' he thought to himself as he replied. " Well hello, I am doing just fine, came outside to meditate a little bit and spend some much needed time outdoors." He replied as he securely fastened his sword on his belt opposite of his wand. The wind picked up Godric's hair and slowly placed in from in between his shoulder and placed it on his back. " Just ready to start teaching and hoping we get some good students. That is what this world needs you know? Some wizards who actually know what they are doing and how to ensure the rest of the world eliminates the bad name us magic folk have in the muggle world. That is what we need to eliminate, the hate that they hate for us and the rest of our families." He added as he sat down on the grass and motioned for Rowena to sit down. "So why did you accept this position? Have you always wanted to be a teacher or did you have a bad time that was going on before we all came here?" he asked hoping not to inflict emotional pain on the woman.

The one thing about the grounds was that it held it's mystery, it's magic even then. There was nothing about it that was certainly ordinary. It's beauty was one of the things that made her happy when she wasn't in the classroom. The witch turned to look at him when he finally spoke, her memories being cast aside for the moment.
"Yes the outdoors is a good place to be when all you are searching for is a nice quiet place to relax and think." She smiled as the old witch was capable of anything. She had noticed his sword. "Been practicing I take it?" She said as she watched as he had placed the sword in it's case and moved it to the opposite side from where his wand was easily seen. She understood exactly where he was coming from with wanting to start teaching and to get some good students into their lovely establishment. The school would be ripping apart at the seams when they got everyone settled inside.
"Yes, we need some witches and wizards who know what they're doing and that they don't risk exposure but to practice our gifts...talents in peace. It may sound bad but I think it's safe to say that until they are of adult age...that magic should be restricted to while they are in school and not while they are at their homes. For their own safety that is. As much as I hate the idea of restricting our magic, it may be what is best for us all until we can ensure that the muggles stop fearing us and our magic. As some will always fear something of which they do not understand and cannot immediately see."
She replied as she thought about it long and hard. The woman was always worried about using such intelligence to ensure the safety of others. And she prided herself upon such actions. She took a seat opposite him and then chuckled lightly when he had asked about why she chose to teach. "It's simple really. I chose to come not just to teach, but to share what I've learned with others so that they can be more prepared. As I didn't have the kind of teachers that did that for me. I....I was on my own a lot of the time. But yes, there were things in my past that I've had to deal with and coming here seemed like a better option thatn wallowing in self pity and despair. But enough about me. What about you? What made you decide to come and teach? A bad experiance or just something you felt like you had to do?" It was the most honest and intelligent way she could answer it.

The man thought back to his old school back in Norway. "Well back in my what I call my homeland, I had a small school where our kind taught the students who we knew had our powers and everything went great. It was nothing compared to this though. We had a small manor which we used for everything. When they graduated, many of them stayed around and helped the other students and some went back to the town and lived their life and helped make sure everything was well. I figured, with all the success I was having there that this would be a great opportunity to expand. It is hard being in the one place that most of my people hate but we are protected and my people know the threat that will come with they even come near us." Godric laughed as he looked at the sky and took a deep breath.
"Practicing, no, thanking the all powerful gods of my people yes." he replied as he felt the grass. "The grass feels so warm in these parts, I miss the snow." he said as a tear rolled from his eyes. "But soon, I will make the path back home and check on my people and their new ruler, I think I will at least. The longer I stay the more I miss it but it is for the best!" Godric said as he laid back on the grass. "So tell me, what class will you be teaching?"

Of all the places she had travelled, here was where she had felt mostly like herself. “I didn’t have the same kind of experiance I should say. I came from a very unhealthy place...too much of the chaos. There wasn’t a place to really settle down and do the kinds of things most take for granted. Like going to school...but...you live and learn by it. I left a life that at the time seemed like it was a good thing...but in the end it would have caused multiple deaths, my own included. So after I left I travelled the world..until...more recently. When it comes down to it, being what it is that we are, we’ll always have muggles who hate us...and those who would befriend us without knowing us entirely. I’ve seen more war, death and famine to last me a lifetime.” She replied as she thought about everything she had been through, and what she had lost and gained in the process of it. It wasn’t all bad of course.
“The snow is perfect. I kind of like the snow myself. Especially around the holidays as it really blends in well. There is no home for me....no place to really go back to. Everyone I knew—is either dead or wishes they were. It hadn’t mattered what you were, muggle or otherwise....you ended up dead. It was kind of like a warzone. But that’s all in my past. I prefer to keep it there and to instead focus on the here and now. Which is why I came here to begin with.” Her eyes glistened as she spoke honestly and from the heart. "I cannot say I miss home. But I’ll be teaching Charms class. I’ve always been good with it.” Teaching was not necessarily what she had had in mind years before but it certainly had suited her. Taking a deep breath she watched the man in front of her. She hoped that the two of them as well as the other two would get along so that they could protect their school with the best of their ability.
